Why are your blogs so long?

Or for that matter, why do you blog at all? Could my time wasted doing this go towards more productive activities? No one really reads blogs. Right?

As Bart would say, "Eat my shorts."

It's a brain dump folks. It's healthy to journal. In today's digital world, the blog is the perfect tool. So I say, "Bloggers unite!" And as for this post, I plan to make it one of the most disjointed, topical lapses in the short history of this social bookmark. This one's for our Amish ABF leader, Mr. Graves (that's Gra-vez). Assuming he can pedal over to a dial-up connection somewhere and wait for jerrywelch.name to propagate.

Have you ever Googled yourself? Of course you have - what a silly question. Well, I didn't until today. Not sure why I waited so long. Oh yeah - so I didn't have to be depressed by the top 10 Jerry Welch's in the world:
  • MySpace.com - Jerry Welch - Breeder of Fine Peacocks - 46 - Male ...
Never again. Didn't even bother to check out the 2nd page of results.

My beautiful wife presented our class this weekend with the bible lesson. In the back of mind (way back there - somewhere around the early 90's bong resin and memory of my first Van Halen concert) I felt a little concerned about the perception of a woman in her young 30's bringing a biblical lesson to a peer group of couples.

Ya know what? She was great. We learned, laughed, and lunged into the Word. A bunch of 20 & 30-somethings praising and fellowshipping with the Lord. If the Church wants more from a substitute teacher, I would find myself at a loss.

Watch out for Girl Power though! We don't want to give them too much latitude do we? Awwww, yeah ... now I might get your attention while scatter shooting. Realistically, that's what one might think when reading through other posts on this site. Might I remind you I'm a big fan of the ladies. And to prove that, I'm going to promote some well-deserved, women-run, local businesses:

JC Originals
I'm an actual customer. Jill is not only talented at an array of design skills, but "easy to work with", "kind" and "country sweetness" comes to mind if I had to write a description. Her husband is my good buddy, Kevin - he tries to help ... emphasis on try. Need a family photo? Invitations for a special event? Composite? Check out her web site - www.jc-originals.com - or hed over to the JC Originals Blog - www.jc-originals.blogspot.com.

Andrea Wheat ... well, I know she has an artistic-based side business as well. But I can't remember the website, what it's called, or what she does. Something about paper ... hopefully her husband, Ryan (an MMA enthusiast), will get back to me so I can make sense out of this post.

UPDATE! Almost a day after the post I got the info from Ryan:

Vintage Paper Concepts
Andrea's site is really well done. And I know she's talented. My favorite product section on the site would be http://www.vintagepaperconcepts.com/forhome.html. Two reasons ... 1 - this seams like practical items people would want to dress up the domicile; 2 - they show an address sign that says "Butternut." Just the name of the street makes me giggle like a little school girl. So visit http://www.vintagepaperconcepts.com/ today - don't forget her blog as well - http://andreawheat.blogspot.com/.

ProSoap
I ran out of ideas for local, woman-owned businesses that I consciously could remember. So the closest thing to a girl I could think of was Billy - it's a stretch but he's the only dude I know that shaves his legs. ProSoap - I'm telling you again - this is great hand soap! It removed the wax off my hands from a toilet bowl wax ring! Grease from the Saab? Washed away like dust in the wind. Fishy smell after a good catch? Your wife will hold your hand after a quick scrub. Official ProSoap campaign for August ... "Stop being a fool and buy a tub!" (Disclaimer: official campaign may not have been approved by ProSoap management.)

OK - that was a pathetic local-woman-business plug. But at least I got Jill a back link ... she deserves it merely for reading this filth! And her work is merited.

Have a blessed week and pray for our safety on Saturday as we comb the streets of Dallas ministering to the needs of the unreached, untouched, and unloved.

Questions for the week
  • What does freemasonry and Mormonism have in common?
  • Why does Justin Graves refuse to set his wrist watch to conform to DST?
  • Explain why the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy nor Roman nor an empire. (Based on a famous comment by Voltaire.)

You have your dogs listed before your kids in the title of your blog page.... hmmm. I disapprove.

Also, what about a shout to Women in business in general...not just working women, because I don't count teachers as women in business. although teaching is for the "greater good", it is far from the business world.

Women rock ... the dog thing is nothing. They cam before the kids and I like the 1,2,3 thing ...
